Dover Library Announces Upcoming & Ongoing Programs and Events
Learn how to protect yourself! Personal Safety for Women, presented by the Dover Police Department.
The Dover Police Department, in conjunction with the Dover Town Library, will present a 90 minute program for women on personal safety and risk assessment.
Topics will include situational awareness, personal safety, and avoidance techniques. Discussion will also include potential issues that may be faced by young women entering college this fall, such as binge drinking and date rape. Presentation will be in the community room of the Dover Town Library on Wednesday night, August 24th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Please contact the library at 508-785-8113 to sign up. Calling all Royalty…Prince and Princess Tea for Children!
Bring the whole family and join us on Thursday, August 25 from 2:15 to 3:15 pm in your finest tea attire (prince and princess costumes for kids!) as we welcome Princess Ashley to the library for a very special tea for kids! Kids can come and enjoy face painting, getting their nails done, and enjoy delicious treats as Princess Ashley entertains everyone with song, stories, juggling, and more!
Dover Town Library Book Discussion Group
Our new book discussion group officially gets started on Monday, August 29 at 6:30 pm with a discussion of the books As We Forgive and Season of Blood : A Rwandan Journey. The group is open to all and we would love to have you join us!
Moved to new date and time! Cinema Night: Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?, co-sponsored by Powisset Farm
The Dover Town Library is teaming up again with Powisset Farm this summer for two movie nights. The second film, Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us? (hosted by Jessica Watson, beekeeper) will be shown on Wednesday, August 31 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The film will be followed by a 15 to 30 minute group discussion.
Free Chess Classes from International Chess Master and Six-Time State Champion Igor Foygel!Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from International Chess Master Igor Foygel! These free chess classes are for all ages and players of any skill level serious about improving their chess skills. Classes will run from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on select Mondays and Wednesdays in August (August 1st, August 3rd, August 15th, August 17th, August 22nd and August 24th). This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Dover Library.
