5 Things to do in the Dover-Sherborn Area This Weekend

Check out a nearby farmers market, monster mini-golf and local trivia.

 

It's summer in Westwood, and while things may be quiet leading up to the Fourth of July on Wednesday, there are still great things to check out in the area. 

Here's a roundup of what's going on nearby this weekend:

1. Monster Mini-Golf and Book Signing Extravaganza 

Where/When: 1560 Boston Providence Tpke, Norwood; Saturday, June 30: 5 p.m.
Why Go: Local author Anna Staniszewski will be signing copies of her children's novel, "My Very Unfairy Tale Life" at Monster Mini-Golf in Norwood. Glow-in-the-dark mini-golf is $7 for "little monsters" and $8 for "big monsters."

2. Free Movie Night in Dedham

Where/When: The Dedham Community House; Friday, June 29: 8 p.m.
Why Go: Head on over to the Dedham Communiuty House for a free family movie night on the front lawn. Bring your family and friends and something to sit on and enjoy a movie and some movie snacks, generously provided by Donahue Real Estate. This week's movie will be Happy Feet Two.

3. An Organ Tribute to John Williams - Dedham

Where/When: St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church; Saturday, June 30: 7 p.m.
Why Go: Help celebrate the 80th birthday of John Williams, with selections from some of his greatest film scores performed on the mighty Louise S. Janesco Memorial Organ at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dedham. Robert Summers Potterton III (Director of Worship Arts at St. Luke's) will guide the audience through the extraordinary career of one of the greatest living composers, highlighted by organ arrangements of music from Star WarsHarry PotterIndiana JonesHome AloneJurassic ParkE.T. The Extra TerrestrialHook, and others.  

4. Trivia Tyme in Norwood

Where/When: TGI Friday's, Norwood; Sunday, July 1: 8 p.m.
Why Go: Hosted by DJ Nick, Trivia Tyme delivers an exciting, enjoyable, and professional trivia presentation for contestants to have a great time!

5. Ashland Farmers Market

Where/When: 125 Front St, Ashland; Saturday, June 30; 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Why Go: Head over to this great farmers market on Saturday, when Sunshine Farm strawberries will share the table with other locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, honey, fish, eggs, meats, cheese, nuts, pasta, sauces, and other specialty foods.
