A Walk Through Sergeant Farrell's Over 40 Years in Dover

Follow our three-part series throughout the day today detailing Farrell's career.

Detective Sergeant Jeffrey Farrell will retire today after over 40 years at the Dover Police Department.

Farrell began his time with the Dover Police in 1972 when the department, stationed in the basement of the Dover Town House, had two cruisers and little else.

Throughout his career he has been acting-chief of the department twice, served as an unofficial detective and prosecutor and has seen it all from arson to seizing a "dump truck load" of marijuana to helping put a dent in a $10 million international fraud scheme - and he never even filled out an application for the job all those years ago.
