Dover Updates from the Polls
Town Clerk Barrie Clough received special permission from the state to open the polls early. Unlike most towns, Dover started voting at 6 a.m. this morning. With about 4,200 voters registered, including 600 absentees, it's a busy day at the Dover Town House.
By 6:35 a.m. 235 voters had already cast their ballots. At 10:20 a.m., that number was up to 1,360 voters. Four years ago, at the last Presidential election, 87% of registered voters cast a ballot. That is expected to be met or exceeded today.
Scott Brown (R), Elizabeth Warren (D): U.S. Senate
Scott Brown has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate since a January 2010 special election held to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy. Brown defeated state Attorney General Martha Coakley with 1,168,107 votes, or 51.9 percent, to her 1,058,682 votes, or 47.1 percent.
Joseph Kennedy III (D), Sean Bielat (R), David Rosa: Fourth Congressional District
The winner of this race will replace the retiring Barney Frank (D).
Robert Jubinville (D), Earl Sholley (R), Second District Councillor
The remainder of the races are being run uncontested.
