Sherborn 2012 Annual Town Meeting Results
All 34 article motions passed with the exception of Article 26 which dealt with the town adopting a policy to allow for recall elections.
Sherborn's 235th Annual Town Meeting was held Tuesday night in the Lindquist Commons auditorium at the Dover-Sherborn High School.
There were 34 articles on this year's warrant and all 34 were voted on Tuesday night, therefore, there will be no second night of Town Meeting necessary.
All article motions passed with the exception of Article 26 which deals with petitioning the General Court for a special act that would adopt the ability for the town to hold recall elections for elected officials in Sherborn.
The Advisory Board recommended favorable action on the article by a vote of 4-2.
Several townspeople spoke against approving the Advisory Board's recommendation. Many felt that the article was premature and needed to have more open discussions and hearings about the bylaw before moving forward with the recommendation of Advisory.
A citizens' petition, Article 34, also dealt with the issue of recall elections and a motion was passed to take no action in regard to passing a similar bylaw that would allow for such recall elections in the town.
Other article motions that were passed were in Article 8 which allowed for funds to be allocated to several departments in town including $52,000 to the Sherborn Library for improvements to help make the library compliant with the American's with Disabilities Act; $500,000 for renovations and preventative maintenance at Woodhaven; and $95,200 for repairs to the Pine Hill School's water tank and for asbestos removal underneath carpeting and on pipes in the ceiling of the school.

Despite your best intentions and deadline pressure, your article is misleading in several respects. First, as you correctly reported, the only Article that failed was Article 26, the Selectman's Proposal proposing the addition of a Recall provision in the Town's By-Laws. Secondly, there were three types of other Motions that technically "passed;" (a) those as written in the Warrant; (b) those that were amended at the Town Meeting by a citizen or by Advisory; and (c) those that Town Meeting voted to take "no action"; effectively tabling these items to the future.
By myy scorecard, the tabulation would more accurately read as follows:
Passed - Articles 2, 4, 6, 7, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.6, 8.7, 9, 10, 15, 18, 22, 27, 29.
Passed as Amended - Articles 1, 3, 5, 11, 12, 30.
Motion to take No Action Passed - 8.5, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 28, 31, 32, 33, 34
Failed - 26.
