It's NEVER too late to make a life change! - especially in terms of your smile.
The other day, we had a lovely 80 year old patient come to us as a new patient. She mentioned that her really crowded teeth have always bothered her. She discussed her concern over forty years ago with her previous dentist. Yet, he discouraged her from [ever] getting braces saying that they were not necessary or essential. She still regrets this decision.
In our office, we closely work with both in-house and referral orthodontists. A staff member can remember in her early training treating a 90 year-old patient for malocclusion (a bad bite) that prevented the patient from eating and chewing. Instead of facing all meals of the ENSURE-fortified drink, the patient opted for braces and underwent successful orthodontic treatment, and was able to chew well-balanced meals from thereon forth.
From 1994 to 2010, the number of Americans 18 years and older who got braces or some other teeth-straightening treatment from an orthodontist has jumped 58%, to 1.1 million from 680,000 annually, according to the American Association of Orthodontists. In 2010, adults accounted for 22% of patients, up from 17% in 1994.
We want to listen to your dental concerns; avoid regrets.
