Over 130 people from Dover and surrounding towns attended the Dover Republican Town Committee’s (DRTC) Spring Gala on May 5th at the Endicott House in Dedham. Senator Scott Brown addressed the group and was one of many Republican notables who were there. The event included cocktails, dinner and dancing to the music of Dover’s own band “The Barn Dogs.”
Heather Tourtellotte, DRTC vice chair and event coordinator said “The event was a huge success for the DRTC. Not only did we raise funds for Republican candidates but more importantly people now have a great feeling about our organization, who we are and what we do.”
Other Massachusetts Republican figures in attendance were State Senator Richard J. Ross, State Representatives Jay Barrows, Shaunna O’Connell and Dan Winslow as well as 2010 candidate for State Auditor Mary Z. Connaughton. All three Republican candidates for the US Congress District 4 seat were also present – Sean Bielat, Elizabeth Childs and David Steinhof. Also in attendance were State Committeeman Brad Williams and Richard Pilla, President of the Norfolk County Republican Club.
Mark Sarro, Chair of the DRTC offered “It’s great to see this level of excitement and support for the Dover RTC and Republican candidates. People are really energized for the upcoming election.”
Bob Coates, DRTC Secretary added “It was particularly satisfying to see so many new faces at this event. It demonstrated exactly what we are trying to achieve – that is, to be able to mix politics into a vibrant social environment that is actually fun.”
The Endicott House is owned by MIT and traces its history back to the late 1800s. It is now used for meetings, conferences and special events.
