Last Minute Valentine's Day Gift Idea: Homemade bonbons

Think you don't have time to make these homemade bonbons for your sweetheart tonight? Think again. It only took my 7 minutes (with dishes) to whip up these tasty little morsels. Better yet, they are sugar-free and boast the nutrient qualities of super foods cacao and coconut butter. So if you haven't done anything for your sweetheart yet read on..... She will be impressed by the effort of a homemade gift and the fact that you are looking out for her health.

Homemade Bonbons
Serving size vary depending on mold shape and size

Ingredients:

1/4 cup raw cacao powder

1/2 cup coconut butter/oil

1 tsp peppermint or vanilla essence

1 packet powdered stevia (or 10-12 drop liquid stevia)

Optional: chopped nuts, fruit, or coconut, chili powder

Directions:

1. Melt Cacao and coconut butter/oil in a frying pan, making sure to stir frequently so as not to scold. Once melted take off the heat and add stevia and peppermint/vanilla essence.

2. Carefully pour hot mixture in a mold of your choice (I just used mini muffin tins but you could get fancy and buy heart shaped candy molds). Freeze for 30 minutes

3. Tailor to your taste - before transferring mold to freezer personalize these little bonbons I used peppermint and small bits of frozen raspberry. I’d imagine peppermint and nuts would also be good or coconut flakes. Be creative and use whatever is in your cabinets. Perhaps even try turning up the heat with your Valentine and adding chili powder!
