If you’re a chocolate lover and National Chocolate Day just isn’t enough celebration, you’ll be glad to know that this is National Chocolate Week. A whole week of chocolate may sound decadent, but a little bit of the right kind of chocolate each day actually has some health benefits.
Web MD’s senior medical writer Daniel J. DeNoon lists antioxidant properties and high blood pressure reduction among dark chocolate’s health benefits. On its Health Hub, the Cleveland Clinic specifies that plain dark chocolates that have not undergone the Dutch processing methods, and that are low in sugar and butter, will yield the greatest health benefits.
