About this column:

Each week the Medfield Animal Shelter will provide us with an animal who is in need of a loving home. The Dover Animal Control officer works closely with the Medfield Animal Shelter.
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. Meet Leroy Brown Leroy came to the Medfield Animal Shelter as a result of a police investigation. His owner, who had loved him and taken good care of him, was sent to jail and left Leroy with a friend who had him living in a tent, but that didn't work out and now he is waiting patiently to be adopted. He's been with us for over a month hoping against hope there might be one more chance to share his big love again with an appreciative owner. Leroy likes to kiss as many faces as he can and to leave his drool on car …
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. Meet Jazz Jazz is also affectionately known as Spazz by his owner because he was so wild and silly when she adopted him from the Medfield Animal Shelter 7 years ago. He's a Border Collie/Lab mix and all he wanted to do when he was younger was run and play and jump and herd. Now at 9 years young he still does all of this but in a more dignified manner due to all the love he has been showered with by his owner, Pam. Sadly, they must now part ways and it is breaking two hearts. Pam must move to senior housing that does not…
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. Carly originally came to the Medfield Animal Shelter from a large, very crowded shelter where she spent eight months in a cage, patiently waiting for a family to come along and adopt her. This sweet, gorgeous and friendly cat was overlooked simply because there were so many other cats also available. She was adopted from us two years ago, but was recently returned because she was no longer getting along with the other cat in her home. This tiger and white beauty is looking for a home where she can be the boss. Our 17-…
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. This handsome tabby boy is named Tony. He was adopted from the shelter 7 years ago, and was recently returned with his friend Susie, because their owner had to go into a nursing home. The cats are sad to find themselves at the shelter and are hoping someone is looking to adopt a pair of quiet, gentle kitties. Tony is friendly and purrs a lot. He is neutered and up to date on his vet care and is doing well in our cage-free room.   We think a quieter home would be best for this nice cat.   To apply for a cat or kitten, …
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. This handsome short haired grey cat was brought to the Medfield Animal Shelter on Tuesday, July 17 by someone that thought he was a cat missing from a home in Medfield.   He is not that cat, so we are now looking for his family. He is a very handsome, neutered male and he has a white spot on his neck. He was found on Russett Hill Road in Sherborn and we are sure his family is frantically looking for him, since he doesn't look like he has skipped a meal or been fending for himself.   Please call the Medfield Animal …
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. PJ Funnybunny is an adorable 2-year-old rabbit who is in need of a new home. His fur is light brown and his ears are long and very soft. He was adopted from the shelter a year and a half ago, but was returned because he bit the kids and this caused them to stop playing with him and giving him attention. He has always been an indoor bunny. He enjoys attention and being petted, and is much happier now that he has lots of human attention and a chance to hop around, so he no longer bites.   One of our volunteers brought him…
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. Kimber was left at the door of the shelter in a carrier along with her three kittens. The person left a note saying she had lost her job and was unable to care for the kitties. Kimber is now finished caring for her kittens and is in need of a home of her own (her kittens have all been adopted). Her foster family said she is a wonderful, friendly and affectionate cat. She is very sweet, loving and playful, but she has made it clear she would like to be the only cat in the household, since she doesn't like any of the …
Editor's Note: The following was provided by the Medfield Animal Shelter. Adorable little Tito was left tied to a fence outside a local ACO's kennel, so we know nothing about his history. Our vet estimates he is around 7 years old. He was very well-behaved when he went to the vet, and loves to be held and go for car rides. He is only 10 pounds, so he is a little guy, although he is definitely a bit tubby and would benefit from a diet and exercise program. Tito enjoys short walks, but is also happy to just curl up in his cozy bed and take a snooze. He likes our other new dog, Georgie, so would…
Submitted by Judy Ambrose, Neponset Valley Humane Society Penny and Bella are an adorable, friendly, happy, active young pair.   Penny is the bobtail tabby. Bella is black. Penny is very sweet, loving and gentle with people but often instigates play with her best pal Bella. She enjoys curling up on the sofa with her foster family and being part of the family. Bella is a happy, energetic little girl. She came into rescue missing most of one ear, as you can see in her photo. We have no idea how that happened; she came to us that way, and it does not slow her down. Bella likes to be picked up, …
Jessica and Pandora are a bonded pair of purebred Siamese cats that need a new home due to their owner developing a severe allergy to them.  The cats are very sweet and have received good care all their lives.  They are up-to-date on their vet care and are both spayed.  Please call the Medfield Shelter send an e-mail to info@medfieldshelter.com if you can give this pair a good home.  In addition to these cats, the Medfield Animal Shelter has many other adult cats, a Rex bunny, a parakeet, a young Basset Hound and a Beagle available for adoption.  You can see all the pets in our care on our …
This beautiful cat was hanging around Medfield Gardens on Pleasant Street in Medfield for a while and was brought to the shelter by the ACO on May 11th. We were not able to find her owners so she is now available for adoption. She is beautiful, sweet and purrs nonstop. We estimate her to be around 2-years-old. She is a very active and playful kitty who will bring a lot of fun to a lucky family. She will need an owner willing to brush her plush coat to keep it looking its best. Ariel is not very fond of other cats, so we think she would be happiest as the only cat in her new home. Please call …
Orion is a happy, wiggly, exuberant guy who seems to love dogs and people. He loves human contact and will weave his way through your legs or just come lean on you. He seems to know some commands and will do anything for food, so he should be easy to train. He does jump on you when you first meet him, but is quickly learning that isn't allowed. He loves toys and just running around being silly. He arrived on May 25th and was just neutered and updated on his vaccines so he is all ready for his new home. He belonged to a guy that hitchhiked and rode trains across the country and Orion went with…
Joey is a handsome Mini Rex rabbit that arrived at the Medfield Animal Shelter this week. Rex rabbits are known for their plush, very soft and velvety fur and their outgoing personalities that make them great pets. Although Rex rabbits typically have easy-to-care-for coats, poor Joey came to us terrible matted and filthy, likely from living in a dirty cage. Rabbits that are neutered are relatively easy to litter box train, and all rabbits placed from the Medfield Shelter are neutered prior to going to their new homes. Rabbits are active, gentle pets that are happiest and healthiest when they …
Snickers was brought to the shelter after being seen out on his own on Philip Street in Medfield for over 2 weeks.  We were surprised to discover he is declawed. He is a handsome, playful, spunky cat and is looking for a new home where he will always be kept safely indoors.  He is a bit on the feisty side, so he wouldn't be a good fit for a home with young kids.  Our vet estimates he is about 7 years old, and he is on thyroid medication, but is doing well on it and is very good about taking his meds.  Please call the Shelter at 508.359.8989 or send an e-mail to info@medfieldshelter.com if you…
This handsome black and white cat was found on Forest St. in Sherborn. He was brought in on May 4 after being seen around the neighborhood for a week going door to door asking for handouts. We are hoping that with his distinctive markings someone will recognize him and we will be able to reunite him with his owner. Call the Shelter 508.359.8989 to claim him if you are his owner. If you are on Facebook and can help us spread the word, please go to www.facebook.com/MedfieldAnimalShelter and share his photos with your friends. If he isn't claimed by an owner he will be available for adoption on …
Bootsie and Buffy are a beautiful pair of bonded cats that need a home together.   Buffy is approximately two, and her baby, Bootsie, is about one-year-old. These girls are sweet, purr a lot and even let you rub their bellies, but they are a bit nervous in new situations. They are typical young cats that love to play, watch the birds from their cat tree and sleep in sunny spots. This pair will make a wonderful addition to any home. They are both spayed and up-to-date on their vet care. Please call the Medfield Animal Shelter if you are interested in  providing them with a loving home: 508-359…
Blarney came to a spay/neuter clinic for feral cats, but when he woke up from his neuter surgery, he was purring away and made it clear he is a friendly guy and not a feral, so he is now available for adoption. He purrs all the time, supervises the volunteers when they prepare his meals, and rubs against everyone, even a recent visitor who is terrified of cats. He is a young adult at approximately 2 years old. As you can see from his pictures, he was ear tipped before we realized he was friendly. He is a really nice kitty, but would be happiest as the only cat in the house. To apply for a cat…
Duke is an adorable 14 month old Labradoodle with many, many good qualities. He is sweet, knows some commands (Sit, Paw, Down) and is very quiet and well-behaved in his kennel. He is very eager to please and bonds with his caretakers right away. However, he is a very high energy dog, pulls on the leash, and seems to have never been told that jumping up on people is not acceptable. Duke needs an owner who is active and is interested in investing some time training him. He is smart, eager to learn and food motivated, so he will probably be the star of his obedience class. He did live with …
This gorgeous cat is Paula, a very sweet and friendly girl who loves to soak up attention. We think she is around 6 or 7 years old. She is spayed and up to date on her vet care. She is taking advantage of all the toys and cat trees in our cage-free room and enjoying all the cozy beds. She came to us from a place where it was hard for her keep herself clean, but now that she is somewhere warm, safe and comfortable, she has groomed herself back to a snowy white color. She is very affectionate and purred during her recent vet appointment. She is a cat that needs a home without children since she…
JoJo is a very sweet and energetic 4 year old Lab mix. She is a typical Lab in that she lives for food and walks. Her previous owner said she used to share her toast with Jojo every morning and Jojo could smell chicken from across the room. She weighs 70 lbs., but is a bit overweight, so she is getting lots of exercise to help her get in shape for spring. Jojo was adopted when she was one year old by grandparents caring full time for their grandchildren and she lived with them for 3 years and was a loving dog who adored her young children and was extremely gentle with them. Jojo is a …
