Viewfinder is an image gallery featuring the faces and places of Dover and Sherborn.The lawn by the Sherborn Public Library was filled with energy Wednesday night, as "The Infractions" brought forth an evening of rock, jazz and entertainment. Kicking off at 6:30, the group played a wide variety of tunes, from contemporary favorites to music from the Big Band era. The group features the likes of Brian Stratton on guitar, keys and vocals; Candido Bretto on bass; Tony Rocks on guitar; Peter Singer on drums; Ken Reid on sax and Jeff Claasen on trumpet; according to the group's Facebook page. An ideal night of weather descended upon the Dover Town Common Tuesday as families gathered to enjoy the next installment of the Dover Summer Concert Series. The group know as Something With Digby took to the common and lit up the lawn with the tunes of old and new, while residents of the area gathered and children scattered about. Despite early morning showers, Sherborn's July 4th festivities, hosted by the Sherborn Fire and Rescue Association, went off without a hitch on Wednesday. The day featured field events for residents of all ages, including a three-legged race, soccer kick, softball throw and a "greased pole" event. A family-related event was also be available, during which families competed using fire-fighting hoses and bunker gear at Jameson Field.
Chickering School students had their art up on display after school Wednesday to show off to parents and friends. One piece of artwork created by each student K-5 was displayed throughout the school. The art was accompanied by students who took turns playing piano solos during the show. After the art show there was a concert featuring the Chickering 4th Grade Band, 5th Grade Jazz Band as well as the Chickering Strings and Chorus. Today is Primary day in Massachusetts including Dover and Sherborn. As of 12:43 p.m. the total vote count in Sherborn was 268. In Dover, as of 1:10 p.m. the total vote count was 413. Officials in both towns said that voter turnout was low so far.
Perhaps the greatest thing about the day after Thanksgiving are the leftovers. And D-S Patch is sharing plenty of leftovers from Thursday's Thanksgiving Day football battle between Dover-Sherborn and Medfield to go around the community! Medfield had its hopes of winning on Thanksgiving picked off by Dover-Sherborn with less than two minutes to play in the fourth quarter Thursday, trailing 14-8. That score became final after the Raiders effectively ran out the clock upon regaining possession and the celebration of its third straight Thanksgiving rivalry victory over the Warriors began. …
The Sherborn Police Department hosted their annual Thanksgiving dinner for seniors at St. Theresa's church on Sunday. Over 50 seniors brought their appetites as they enjoyed their afternoon Thanksgiving supper with all the trimmings. The meal started off with soup and salad before the caterers brought out heaping piles of turkey served alongside mounds of mashed pototoes, squash, stuffing and veggies, all topped off with gravy. They also enjoyed live piano music and conversation with one another.
The D-S varsity field hockey team beat Apponequet Regional High School, 2-0, on Sunday in their quarterfinal matchup of the MIAA Div. 2 South playoffs. The fifth seeded Raiders will move on to the semi-finals in a game against number one seed Canton at Canton High School on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 5:00 p.m. The winner will advance to the finals at Taunton High School on Saturday, Nov. 12 to face the winner of the game against Harwich and Cohasset.

The D-S Raiders football team was on the field practicing for the first time this season under new head coach Joseph Schotland. The team was going through offensive and defensive plays in helmets and practice jerseys. Here are some photos from today's practice.
Here are some photos from Tuesday's Division 3 East State Final game at Harvard Stadium between D-S and Weston. The Raiders fell to Weston by a score of 5-4. Although their year didn't end the way they wanted, the Raiders played a great season winning their first Tri-Valley League title in lacrosse in school history and beat rival Medfield twice during the season. They also had two players, Jeff Williams and Billy Polk, who were named All-Americans by US Lacrosse.
118 diplomas were awarded at the Dover-Sherborn High School 2011 Graduation ceremony on windy Frothingham Field at the High School, Thursday night, in front of hundreds of proud parents, family members, friends, and supporters. Dover began their Memorial Day commemoration at the Dover Town House on Monday where people gathered to sing patriotic songs and say the pledge of allegiance. After they had a parade which began on Springdale Avenue and continued to Highland Cemetery for another brief service before returning back to the raising of the flag at Town Hall.
The Memorial Day parade started at the Town Garage on Butler St. where veterans, cub scouts, girls scouts, police officers, fire fighters, and supporters marched down North Main Street to the Pine Hill Cemetery and then proceeded to the Memory Statue at Route 16 & 27. Gatherers then walked to the Sherborn Community Center where ice cream was served.
The D-S Lady Raiders played rival Medfield on Tuesday. D-S lost the game 15-12 in the final regular season game on the year.
Students attending the Dover-Sherborn Junior/Senior Prom met up at the Dover Church on Friday dressed in their gowns and tuxedos to take pictures with their friends and families. Hundreds of people filled the parking lot of the Dover Church in their most glamorous garb before being whisked away in their limos to the Granite Links Country Club in Quincy. The Dover Town Library hosted their Zombie Prom on Friday the 13th where people were asked to dress up in their spookiest undead garb. Those in attendance snacked on eyeball candie and a brain-shaped jello while watching the film "Night of the Living Dead."
Today is Election Day in Sherborn. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Sherborn Town Hall. Voters and supporters were lined along Washington Street with signs waving to passersby. We'll have full coverage of the results after the polls close later tonight.
