Project Bread’s annual Walk for Hunger, the oldest continual pledge walk in the nation and largest one-day fundraiser to ease local hunger, will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Since 1969, Project Bread has raised over $81 million with an estimated 1,080,000 participants walking 20 million miles to nourish hungry families and individuals. In a single day, The Walk for Hunger raises funding for grants to over 450 emergency food programs, schools, summer food programs, community health centers, farmer's markets, community suppers, home care organizations, and other programs in 129 communities throughout Massachusetts.
