Symphony Hall

The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Benjamin Zander, concludes its 45th season with a spectacular concert commemorating the 200th anniversary of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner’s birth. The season’s grand finale opens with renowned pianist Alessandro Deljavan
performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor with the Orchestra and closes with Bruckner’s unfinished—and final—masterpiece, the Symphony No. 9. Zander’s popular “Guide to the Music,” which is open to all ticket holders, precedes the concert at 6:45 PM. The concert will also be available for live streaming.
Zander is one of the world’s foremost interpreters of Bruckner’s music, having received the Kilyeni Medal of Honor from the Bruckner Society of America in 2021. The medal has been awarded to many other outstanding conductors, including Arturo Toscanini and Otto Klemperer, as well as musicians such as Daniel Barenboim, Bernard Haitink, and Herbert Blomstedt. Former BSO conductor Serge Koussevitsky is the only other Boston conductor to have received the award and the first to receive it (in 1934).
Performing Bruckner’s monumental Symphony No. 9 as the 2023-24 season’s closing work serves as a fitting tribute to one of the most influential composers of the Romantic era. From the very beginning of its formation, the Orchestra has returned to Bruckner as a haven for the soul. The Ninth, which Bruckner dedicated "to the beloved God,” is known for its emotional depth and grandeur. 
 
Alessandro Deljavan, who was born of an Italian mother and an Iranian father. made his debut with the Boston Philharmonic in 2019. His captivating performances have earned him considerable critical acclaim. A student of both Menahem Pressler and Richard Goode, he has been noted as a "keyboard virtuoso with an equally virtuoso brain, ear, and imagination" by Richard Dyer, former chief classical music critic of The Boston Globe. In addition to his solo performances, he is the artistic director of the Opera Master School in Villamagna, Italy and records on his own imprint, the AERAS Music Group, which he created in 2021.

As the weather warms and we’re surrounded by the sights and sounds of spring, join us for a celebration of seasonal New England cuisine. In this hands-on cooking class for couples, our own Chef Thi will teach you to make Spring Vegetable and Bread Salad with Macerated Shallot Vinaigrette, Fish Leek Chowder, Brown Bread, and Carrot Cake Whoopie Pies.
Included in this class:

Competing for medals, titles, and points, the cats of The International Cat Association will close out their 2023-24 season at the 6th Annual Catsachusetts Cat Convention on April 26th – 28th at the Square One Mall.

Over 130 cats will join in the competition for the "Best of the Best." This fun, family-friendly event helps people of every age learn about responsible cat ownership and the incredible world of show cats! 

Celebrating the upcoming National Therapy Animal Day, the Caring Hearts Therapy Cats of TICA will be returning to delight (and cuddle) Catsachusetts visitors. Therapy cats provide affection and comfort to people in retirement homes, nursing homes, hospices, schools, and other human service care facilities. Not only do they provide comfort, they can also lower blood pressure, help people feel safe, and relieve loneliness and depression.
Visitors who decide to welcome a cat into their lives are encouraged to chat with local rescue partners to discuss post-event adoption opportunities!
Featured at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, will be the Parade of Breeds - an educational showcase giving cat lovers the chance to learn about show cats (both pedigreed and household pet), take photos, and chat with one of our judges.
Shop with local vendors for all your pet needs - cat toys, cat trees, cat beds, grooming supplies and much more.
Includes breeds such as naked Sphynx, luxurious Persians, sleek Siamese, New England’s own Maine Coons, purring Ragdolls, and exotic looking spotted Bengals, and much more. Household pets (aka non-pedigreed cats) will also be in the show hall. Judged in a special category, rescue cats compete to become a Supreme Grand Master. Any cat can be a show cat!

Join us in the Powisset Farm greenhouse where you’ll meet Farmer Tim, who will take you on a journey through the greenery. You’ll learn how to sprout seeds and grow your own baby grens at home. Next, we’ll focus on the delicious and healthy qualities of greens with Chef Thi, who will help you use the mighty little plants in a yummy Baby Green Crunch Salad, Supergreen Flatbread, and a tasty Green Artichoke Dip. After this farm culinary experience, you’ll be craving baby greens all season long.
