Gov. Deval Patrick Speaks at Energy Summit

The Massachusetts governor addressed energy efficiency in his remarks.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick spoke at an energy summit in Foxborough Tuesday, elaborating on work done to make the state's energy supply more environmentally friendly. The governor, speaking in front of the "Massachusetts: Leading the Nation in the Energy Savings Revolution" summit at Gillette Stadium, noted that the state had been named the most energy-efficient state by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. The state wrested that title from longtime green energy leader California. "More than 42 percent of Massachusetts residents — 2.7 million people — live in one of the state's 86 green communities," he said. "We are investing more per capita than any other state." He said, since his administration took office, …

On Monday the Sherborn Police Department received a call from a homeowner that coyotes had killed eight sheep and wounded several others at their home on Western Avenue.

On Monday, the Sherborn Police Department received a call from a homeowner that coyotes had killed eight sheep and wounded several others at their home on Western Avenue. The number of coyote sightings has been growing in Dover and Sherborn and while authorities say that humans are generally not at risk there are preventative measures that can be taken to try and keep coyotes away from your property. “There is not a safety issue with children and families. Coyotes go after sheep. Sheep happen to be available at this particular residence and that’s kind of what happened,” said Sherborn Police Officer Paul Van Vliet. Van Vliet said that the sheep were killed by one coyote, which was killed and disposed of Tuesday by the town's Animal Control…

After being named clerk, Caruso was officially introduced as a member of the board of selectmen. “I’m excited to be here, to work with you two gentlemen," Caruso said of Twining and DeRensis. State Officials Remind Horse Owners to Vaccinate Against Mosquito-Borne Diseases

The Mass. Department of Agricultural Resources reminds horse owners that annual vaccinations should be administered during this time of year to ensure their animals are protected prior to the peak mosquito season in July and August.

With the mosquito season approaching, officials from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (DAR) are advising horse owners to take preventative measures to protect animals against mosquito-borne diseases like West Nile virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus (EEE). DAR reminds horse owners that annual vaccinations should be administered during this time of year to ensure their animals are protected prior to the peak arboviral season beginning in late July and August. Owners are urged not to wait until positive cases are reported in their area, since it can take several weeks for an animal to be fully protected by a vaccine. "It is important to stay a step ahead of these diseases and administering vaccinations in …

Dover 2012 Annual Town Meeting Results

The town passed 22 out of 23 articles on the warrant.

Dover's 2012 Annual Town Meeting was held Monday night as the quorum of over 200 townspeople passed 22 of the 23 warrant articles presented to the town. The only article that did not pass was Article 12, which was an article submitted by the Personnel Board to raise and appropriate $45,000 for a pay and classification study of the town's employees. The study, which the Warrant Committee recommended the town approve appropriation for, would have looked at the job descriptions of town employees with third-party consultants in order to determine compensation for the positions against a market of similar towns in the state. The motion failed by a majority voice vote after several residents complained of the high cost of the study and its …
