Today in Dover-Sherborn: Cheering on Cheerleaders, Exploring Governing and More!

Five things you need to know today for Dover, Sherborn and Needham, on Oct 10, 2013.

1. While Thursday is expected to be mostly cloudy, but otherwise dry, the evening is expected to carry a 20 percent chance of rain--otherwise, also cloudy. The National Weather Service is also saying you can expect 63ºF highs and 49ºF lows.

2. Between today and tomorrow, Needham High School is up for a vote. The Needham High School football game against Braintree is one of the five currently being watched by AMP 103.3 for a chance to invite the cheerleaders in for Friday's show. At the time of writing, Needham is neck-and-neck with Lowell High.

3. It is national fire safety month, and the Needham Library is doing crafts to give your kids a leg up on it. Starting at 10:30 a.m. and going to 11:15 a.m., stop in to the craft room for their drop-in craft of the day. They have enough for 50 crafts, so stop in early for first dibs on the crafts.

4. What do you think, “Is America Ungovernable?" This afternoon, North Hill is bringing Dr. Lara Brown, Program Director of the Political Management Masters at George Washington University, to the Wellesley College Club to explore just that thought. Starting at 2 p.m. Register for this free event sponsored by North Hill by online at www.northhill.org/event/is-america-ungovernable, by email RSVP@NorthHill.org or by phone 781-433-6400.

5. This evening, the Dover Republican Town Committee is getting together in Dover--at the Town Library, starting at 7 p.m. For more information, see the event listing on the library website
