The Dover-Sherborn High School robotics club is hosting an FTC Block Party at the Chickering Elementary School cafeteria on Saturday, January 25th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Ten teams, including the DSHS team “Broken Code”, will be competing in this FIRST Tech Challenge scrimmage.
Each team has spent hours designing and building a robot from a specified list of parts and then programming it to accomplish the tasks in the FTC Block Party game. Robots will compete to earn points by following an infrared beacon, placing blocks into goals, raising a flag up a flagpole and suspending themselves from a pull-up bar, all in the span of a two and a half minute game. Multiple rounds will be played and the winner may advance to the MA State FTC Championship to be held at Bridgewater State University in March.
The Dover Cultural Council has generously funded this event. The FTC Block Party is open to the public and admission is free.
