FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 12, 2013 Pine Hill Elementary Assistant Principal Named Superintendent Steven Bliss is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Frank McGourty as Assistant Principal of Pine Hill Elementary School. Mr. McGourty comes to the district from the Holliston Public Schools where he has served as a fifth grade teacher since 2004. While teaching ELA and social studies at Miller Elementary School, Mr. McGourty earned a Master’s Degree in Literacy and Language. He also completed a practicum as a K-12 reading specialist in 2012.In addition to his teaching experience, Mr. McGourty served as a grade leader and also served on the Holliston Schools’ Negotiating Team in 2010. He also sits on the Miller School Council and on the English Language Arts Curriculum Review Committee.“Mr. McGourty’s classroom teaching experience and literacy expertise is a perfect match for the needs at Pine Hill,” said Mr. Bliss. “He brings with him not only a strong background as an elementary teacher, but also great personal warmth, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence,” sentiments echoed by all of Mr. McGourty’s references.Mr. McGourty was selected as a finalist for the Assistant Principal post from a 60-person candidate pool of qualified applicants by a search committee chaired by Dr. Barbara Brown, Pine Hill Principal. Faculty members, parents, and Mr. Frank Hess, Sherborn School Committee Chair, comprised the search committee.
