DSHS Football Helps Dover Seniors

Raider football players performed a variety of services for Dover seniors this fall.

The following information was provided by Nancy Simms from the Dover Council on Aging:

Twenty members of the Dover Sherborn High School football team, half as many parents and Head Coach Joey Schotland came together to provide a variety of fall services to fifteen of Dover’s senior residents.

The 2012 annual DSHS Football – Dover COA Fall Community Service Day took place on Saturday October 13 and was a huge success for all involved. The high school boys performed a variety of yard work services for their Senior neighbors including, leaf raking, brush clearing, bush trimming, and driveway sweeping.  Several Seniors had the boys clean first floor windows, one had them help her organize and sweep out her garage, and another had them help him with some light farm work at Powissett Farm.

In addition to the satisfaction of helping their fellow citizens, the boys earned community service hours required for graduation and perhaps made a new inter-generational friend or two!
