After an unlikely October snowstorm in too short a time since Tropical Storm Irene wreaked havoc this past weekend, parents and sugar hungry trick-or-treaters took to the darkened rural streets of Sherborn to enjoy themselves despite the danger.
On Ivy Lane in Sherborn at approximately 6:30 p.m., there were cheers among the Halloween revelers navigating the street with glow sticks and flashlights when lights finally came on after two days without power.
Ivy Lane resident Jim Byrne made sure his generator was working and carefully lit his driveway with Halloween candles so trick-or-treaters could navigate the driveway.

He said that Ivy Lane is a great place for trick-or-treaters. “It’s like a community event. It’s safe and that’s what parents like”. Byrne added that each year he and his wife buy enough candy for 300 trick-or-treaters.
