Homes, Hounds and Horses Coming Dover: Old Homes Day is Back

Dover Old Homes Day, and the horses and hounds, classic cars and grange supper, all return on Oct 6.

If you haven't got any plans for Sunday, Oct. 6, the Dover Historical Society is throwing a party and they'd like you to come.

Dover Historical Society is once again gearing up for their annual Old Home Day. This year it is Sunday, Oct. 6, and will feature many old favorites from the past events.

The tradition first started more than 110 years ago, in 1903, according to a press release from the Dover Historical Society, and disappeared for a time. The Historical Society revived it in 2002. Last year's event marked the 10th anniversary.

The event starts at noon, marked by the ringing of the bells at the Dover Church.

The Old-Fashioned Grange Supper is coming back, and is again catered by Blue Ribbon BarBQ, which is owned by Dover native Geoff Janowski. The meal will feature hand-carved ham and turkey with bean supper. Food will run $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. You can make reservations by calling Heather Hodgson at 785-1977 or by email at oldhomeday@comcast.net.
