Red Cross Seeks Blood Donors to Prepare for Irene

Red Cross ask that those in the unaffected areas donate blood to help out.

From the American Red Cross:

As communities along the eastern seaboard prepare for the possible impact of Hurricane Irene, the Red Cross is urging blood donors in unaffected areas to give blood.

Hurricane Irene could affect blood collections along the East Coast at a time when the nation’s blood supply is already low. Donating blood now, before the storm, will help ensure blood is available in the aftermath of Irene should conditions prohibit people from traveling to blood drives.

All presenting donors in August will receive a coupon for a free box of six pieces of chocolate dipped fruit from Edible Arrangements. Prizes are not redeemable for cash and non-transferable.

To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit online at redcrossblood.org.
