New Exhibits Now on Display at Sherborn Library

The Friends of the Sherborn Library are excited to announce that photographer Heath Robbins will be exhibiting his artwork on the first floor of the library throughout the month of March.  

Heath Robbins graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1986 and immediately began work in New York City for J. Walter Thompson, an advertising firm.  

Although passionate about taking pictures from the time of his first black and white course at the age of 15, it wasn’t until 3 years into his advertising career that Robbins decided to make this passion his life’s work.  

With only a few photography classes under his belt, he began building his professional portfolio in 1990 by traveling to and photographing 38 countries around the world.  

Since then, Robbins’ photographs have graced the pages of magazines such as Field & Stream, Bon Appétit, Saveur, Men's Journal, Food & Wine, Yankee, Gourmet and Boston Magazine.  

He recently finished his fourth cookbook featuring the colorful dishes of Japan and a "bookazine" cookbook with Yankee Magazine.  

His images have also appeared worldwide in consumer magazine ads, on billboards and company brochures for companies such as Tyson Foods, Nabisco, McDonalds, Bj's Wholesale Club, New Balance, Choice Hotels, Toyota and many more.

“Ever since I can remember I've been taking pictures. It was such a passion for me that growing up I never thought about doing it as a job because it was what I did when I went out to play. It's all about capturing moments for me. Those could be in a landscape, a human interaction or even a plated dish of food. The light, the color, the emotion, when I see it I'm driven to try and capture or recreate it in the camera… and I love every minute of it," Robbins said in his artist's statement. 

In addition to the photography exhibit, Dover-Sherborn Middle School sixth graders have displayed clay works in the library display case during the month of March.  

Using the scoring and slip method, the students were able to connect pieces of clay to construct a functional container.

The students whose work is on display at the Sherborn Public Library are: Chris Cone, Emma Lesser, Nick Riccardi, Francesca Cellucci, Megan Morrissey, Eliza Fontaine, Elsa Gnann, and Lauren Baptista.
