Pine Hill School Welcomes New Assistant Principal

The new administrator begins on Aug. 19 this year.

A new face will be walking the halls of the Pine Hill School in Sherborn. After serving in the Holliston school district for nearly ten years, Frank McGourty has been named as the Assistant Principal of Pine Hill, according to a press release from the Dover-Sherborn public school system. Superintendent Steven Bliss made the announcement on Monday, Aug. 12.

McGourty will be stepping in for Assistant Principal Philip Banios who is leaving to become the Principal of Greenlodge Elementary School in Dedham, according to boston.com.

McGourty was a fifth grade teacher in Holliston, teaching ELA and social studies at Miller Elementary School. He also served on the Holliston Schools’ Negotiating Team in 2010. McGourty has a Master’s Degree in Literacy and Language. “Mr. McGourty’s classroom teaching experience and literacy expertise is a perfect match for the needs at Pine Hill,” Bliss said.

“He brings with him not only a strong background as an elementary teacher, but also great personal warmth, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence," Bliss said.

A search committee chaired by the Pine Hill Principal, Barbara Brown, chose McGourty from a pool of 60 candidates, according to the press release. Included on the search committee were parents, faculty members, and the Sherborn School Committee Chair, Frank Hess. McGourty begins on Aug. 19.
