Dover Water Company Sold, Now Colonial Water Company

The company will keep the same employees and continue to serves its approximately 550 customers in Dover.

On Dec. 9, 2010, the New England Service Company of Plainville, CT acquired the Dover Water Company and created the Colonial Water Company in its place.

Donald Vaughn, CEO of the New England Service Company stated that nothing has changed.

The Colonial Water Company offers the same services as the Dover Water Company and has the same employees as the Dover Water Company.

“We have four on-site, two of which are part-time staff ” and they cater to the same approximately 550 customers, Vaughn said.

“We handle everything in the same manner with the same competent and capable staff,” Vaughn said.

He said that they repair mains and breaks and do capital improvements.

He said the Colonial Water Company is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for customer service.

Vaughn said New England Service Company’s employees are involved in the management of water systems.

They have a total of thirteen employees at the main office in Plainville, CT.

The company owns several water companies in Connecticut including Valley Water Systems in Plainville, CT with 6,700 customers and one small one in Rhode Island.

Valley Water Systems was founded in 1884 and acquired by Vaughn’s company in 1997.

Vaughn said, “We are a publicly owned company,” and is traded under the tag NESW.

He said the company has good relations with the Connecticut Water commission and Department of Public Utility Control in Massachusetts.
