Farmer's Market Coming to Grace Church

After Dover town selectmen approved it on July 11, Grace Church will be holding a farmer's market in September and October and continuing in the spring.

Many of the farmers in the Dover and Sherborn area will now have a place to promote their farms and connect with the community starting Sept. 7. The town's first farmer's market will be located in the grassy area by the back of Grace Church on 21 Centre St.

“Farmer’s markets are pretty popular, we have a lot of local farmers that operate under the radar,” Grace Church pastor Amy DiSanto said. “It will allow them to be more visible to sell their produce and a chance to see their neighbors.”

Desanto said with farmer’s markets springing up all over the area, it was natural for Dover and Sherborn to have one.

“Local produce is always the best,” DiSanto said. “The market will provide an opportunity to see their neighbors.” DiSanto said because there aren’t many places for Dover residents to come together, the farmer’s market will provide this opportunity.

As far as preparation, after getting the green light from the town of Dover, not much extra preparation is involved.

“It would be great to have some volunteers or students helping out to lend us a hand,” she said. “Other than that, we just need to get vendors to sign on.”

The farmer’s market will be on Saturdays from 9-1 p.m. in September and October, and will also continue in the spring. Desanto said there would be plenty of parking for those interested in coming, and those who are interested in being vendors for the market should email farmers@dovergrace.org.
