June 02, 2014, NEEDHAM, MA -- With Bank of America closing down its only branch in Dover, Needham Bank is stepping into the breach to provide residents with a full range of services from the same location at 60 Centre Street.
The opening date for the new branch is targeted for sometime later this summer.
“Dover, with a population of 5,600 and more than 1,850 households, deserves ready access to banking services right in town,” said Jack McGeorge, Needham Bank CEO and Chairman of the Board. “We already enjoy significant market share in the town and have relationships with many Dover families that stretch back several generations. Having a presence in the town underscores our commitment to building communities.”
Needham Bank has been an integral part of the Dover community for years through sponsorship of local organizations such as The Dover Foundation, Dover-Sherborn Boosters, Friends of the Dover Council on Aging, to name a few. The bank has also financed construction loans and mortgages in the picturesque “Town of Friendship”, as Dover is known.
Needham Bank, headquartered at 1063 Great Plain Avenue in Needham is the quintessential community bank, serving Boston and neighboring communities continuously since 1892. The new branch will be the bank’s sixth.
As a mutual bank, Needham Bank is not publicly traded, can’t be bought or sold and its primary obligation is to the residents and communities they serve rather than bottom-line profit. Needham Bank was voted 2014 “Best in Region” by local weekly publications and provides the latest financial technologies, outstanding customer service and global ATM fee reimbursements with their checking accounts.
“We are thrilled to announce the opening of our Dover Branch,” added Dover resident and Needham Senior Vice President, Eric Morse. “We are confident that this new location will help strengthen our relationships with the families, businesses and community organizations in Dover.”
