It was a balmy 28 degrees today at Dover-Sherborn High School. The girls strolled in car by car. They all hugged, laughed, and practically ran to the bench to put on their cleats. Some of the girls had the same boots since high school soccer. They were determined to play today and play hard! Head Coach David Wainwright has successfully finished his 6th season here at DS and Head Coach JV Bob Willey has been right by his side! The girls loved seeing their coaches again. Each coach took a goalie position. Wainwright played for present Varsity and JV players and Coach Willey in net for the alum. Perlmutter and Goudreault were injured and did not play in net. Half time score was 2-0 Varsity/JV. The final score was 6-1 Varsity/JV. Goal scorers for DSGS were Jackie Goudreault, Rachel Shone, Sarah Tanner and Zoe Oasis. The lone DSGS Alum goal scored by 2012 graduate Maddie Dunn who stuffed the ball behind the net to get the much anticipated goal on Coach Wainwright! The goal was victorious and the alum did not want to stop playing until they scored on Dave! Dave did not want any alum scoring on him because he knew he would not hear the end of that story! Many shooters for DSGS Alum were Victoria Ortega, Elizabeth Rummel, Natalie Heffernan, Sarah Miller, Maddie Dunn, Perry Oasis, Kali Sherbourne and Liz Tangerini. They could not find the back of the net and Dave was stellar in goal to keep Varsity/JV team ahead.
We had 25 girls show up today and the stands were filled with family, friends and their children. There were a lot of laughs and hugs and the game was a huge success!
