Anti-Obama Demonstration Taking Place Outside Dover Post Office

Dover Police said they have gotten about a dozen calls asking about the demonstrators.

Two anti-Barack Obama demonstrators displaying posters of the President's head with a superimposed moustache to resemble one worn by Adolf Hitler are currently outside of the Dover Post Office on Walpole Street.

The demonstrators, who were handing out flyers and seeking donations, represent the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee, a known anti-government entity based in Leesburg, VA, who partake in peaceful demonstrations depicting Obama as a member of the Nazi regime.

Neither of the demonstrators would comment publicly. However, one did ask for a $100 donation.

A call to the LaRouche PAC office in Boston was not immediately returned.

Dover Police officer Jon Cash said they have gotten “probably a dozen calls. Some complaints and some general questions on whether or not they can be out there and what rights they have to say what they have to say.”

“They’ve been fairly peaceful from what we’ve seen here. They’re just out there expressing their opinion with the government. They’re not threatening anyone or they’re not harassing anyone,” said Cash.

The demonstrators have been outside of the post office for about 3-4 hours. Cash said they have not affected traffic on the road but that people have slowed down to beep or to see what is going on.

“Nothing we’ve seen is offensive to the point that we would ask them to take it down or ask them to move,” Cash said.

Cash said that they are within their first amendment rights to freely speak their opinion "as long as it’s not unreasonable and it’s not harassing people."
