Dover-Sherborn Weekend Planner: Brogue, Theatre and Historical Sites

Here's a look at the weekend ahead for May 4 - 6

1. The Sherborn Inn Presents "Brogue"

When/Where: , 33 North Main St., Sherborn; Saturday, May 5, 9 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Why Go: The classic rock cover band, "Brogue", will perform at the Sherborn Inn.

2. Norwood High School Drama Presents: 'The Wedding Singer'

Where/When: , 245 Nichols St., Norwood; Friday, May 4, 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 5, 2 p.m. 

Why Go: Norwood High School Drama will present the Broadway rendition of "The Wedding Singer."  It’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Heart, who still lives in his grandmother's basement, is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer.  With a score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Tickets will be available at the door.

3.  Medfield HS Theatre Society Presents 'The Hot Seat'

Where/When: , 88 r South St., Medfield; Saturday, May 5, 7:00 p.m. and Sunday May 6, 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: Medfield HS Theatre will present their annual student directed One-Act Festival 'The Hot Seat' to benefit the David E. Medeiros Memorial Scholarship. The 'Hot Seat' features eight short plays acted out by members of the senior class of Medfield High School.  Tickets are available at Lord's Department Store.

4. Historic Caryl House and Fisher Barn Open House

Where/When: , 107 Dedham St., Dover; Saturday, Saturday, May 5 7, 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: The Dover Historical Society invites you to visit the The 1777 Caryl House and Fisher Barn, located at  107 Dedham St, during their open house season every Saturday from September 3 through November 26th.

Take a step back into history and see how The Reverend Benjamin Caryl and his family lived in 18th century Dover following the American Revolution. The Fisher Barn holds the Historical Society's collection of farm tools highlighting Dover's agricultural past.

The 1906 Sawin Museum, located at 80 Dedham St will also be open on Saturdays, 1-4 PM. Come and see the new exhibits.

Pricing: Tours are free.

 

5.  8th Annual Families of SMA Yard Sale

Where/When: 3 Hospital Road, Medfield; Sat., May 5, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Families of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) will hold their 8th Annual Yard Sale where all proceeds from the sale will go towards the Walking for William FSMA pledge card for the annual SMA Walk-n-Roll down at Hingham's Wompatuck State Park on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon.  Anyone who can't make it to the yard sale and instead would like to make a donation to William's pledge card directly may go to http//www.fsma.org/LWC/WalkingforWiliam2012.  For more information, email Heidi Johnson at heidikjohnson@comcast.net.
