Five Things You Need To Know About Today: August 12

Be sure to check here daily for useful information about what is going on in Dover and Sherborn today.

1. Dover has announced that the following streets will be resurfaced beginning around the second week in August:

  1. County Street from Walpole town line to Medfield town line
  2. Pleasant Street
  3. Main Street from Pleasant Street to Dover Road
  4. Springdale Ave. from Church Street to Farm Street
  5. Snows Hill Lane
  6. Hamlin’s Crossing
  7. Old Centre Street
  8. The new sidewalk on Dedham Street from Centre Street to Caryl Park sometime in August

2. The  will hold 2 FREE  today from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. These movies will feature the country of Greece:

  • "Momma MIA" Rated PG-13 synopsis: The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular '70s group ABBA.
  • "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" Rated PG-13.

3. Grab your camera and head to the parks. The Trustees of Reservations is pleased to announce the 5th annual . From June 22 to Sept. 22, visit any of The Trustees properties in the Charles River Valley and submit your best photos in six categories. The Best in Show winner will receive a Trustees membership and a winter share of produce at Powisset Farm.

Contests will be able to summit their favorite shots in six subject categories, including “On the Farm,” a new category this year for photographs taken at our Powisset Farm property in Dover.  Information, rules and regulations can be found HERE.

4. The Sherborn Town Library invites you to visit this month's art exhibit  a presentation of multi-media works by students attending the Summer 2011 Charles River Creative Arts Program (CRCAP).  The exhibit is available for viewing on the first and second floors of the Library during business hours through the end of August. Admission is free. 

5. Registration is now open for the 2011 Dover-Sherborn Triathlon.  The Dover-Sherborn Boosters have announced that the 7th annual Triathlon will be held on September 18, 2011.  The race includes a 0.25 mile swim, 14.8 mile bike, and 3.4 mile run  The race will take your through the scenic roads of Dover and Sherborn past farms, rivers, and antique houses. The swim is in Farm Pond in Sherborn and the run finishes Olympic style on the new track at Dover-Sherborn High School.  Registration and Information about this event can be found HERE
