Five Things You Need To Know About Today: May 5
Be sure to check here daily for useful information about what is going on in Dover and Sherborn today.
1. Today is Cinco de Mayo, meaning the fifth of May. A common misconception is that this day is to commemorate the Mexican Independence Day, which is untrue. Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Mexican army's victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is also a celebration of Mexican pride and heritage. Our parenting columnist Heather Kempskie wrote a column about ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with your kids. Check it out.
2. The Council on Aging invites seniors citizens to attend an exercise class at the Dover Town House on the upper floor beginning at 9:30 a.m. Men and women are welcome to attend. Dress comfortably and bring water. A contribution of $2.00 is suggested to help defray the cost.
3. Tea Time Thursdays continues at the Dover Town Library from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Reading Room. All are invited to enjoy tea and refreshments.
