Five Things You Need To Know About Today: Sept. 16

Five Things You Need To Know About Today is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance. Check back later for more, and let us know what you think of the feature in the comments section.

1. The will hold a few events today:

  • Children are invited to visit the Community Room at 10:30 a.m. for a weather themed Story Time and Craft activity. This is a free drop-in program and registration is not required.   
  • From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. all teens and tweens are welcome to ). Kids can play the Kinect located in the Community Room. Board games will also be available.

2. Come cheer on the Dover-Sherborn Raiders in the first home football game of the 2011 Fall Season and meet the . D-S will be playing against Northeast Metro Regional High School (Wakefield). The game will be at at 7:00 p.m. The D-S Cheer Team wants to have a strong FAN ZONE this year and they look forward to teaching new cheers to the crowds.

3. More Raiders Varsity Games:

  • The boys' football team will hold their first home game tonight against Northeast Metro Regional Vocational at 7 pm.
  • The girls' field hockey team hosts Westwood at 3:30 pm.
  • The girls' soccer team hosts Bellingham at 3:30 pm while the boys' soccer team travels to Bellingham for a 3:30 meet.

4. The Dover Council on Aging invites seniors to a game of  at 10:00 a.m. behind the Dover Legion.

5. To kick off to this year's Sherborn Grange Fair, the will be held tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. under the big tent at the Barber Reservation. Friends and neighbors are invited to gather and celebrate a cocktail hour and a farm fresh meal featuring local food from the bounty of Sherborn.  Tickets are $100 per person. There are a limited number of seats available for this special event. Reservations can be made at: SherbornGrange2011@yahoo.com.
