Weekend Planner: Dec. 2-4

Holiday music, Bazaars and Historic open houses on the calendar this weekend.

1. Annual Carol Sing At UCC Medfield

Where/When: , 496 Main St., Medfield; Friday, Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: The UCC church invites you to enjoy the sounds of the holiday with the Sanctuary Choir as they sing music like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” as well as the “Ukrainian Bell Carol” being expertly rung by the church handbell ensemble.  Then over two dozen children’s voices will join together as the UCC Treble Choir and special guests from the Blackstone Valley Catholic Youth Choir present some of the pieces they are preparing for the 2012 Choristers Guild Festival, including “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and George Dyson’s “Magnificat.”

Another special guest, Michael Mukisa, will be accenting some of the musical selections with African percussion instruments and leading the singing of his rollicking choral arrangement of the Ugandan Advent hymn, “Bin Emmanuel.”  Of course, the best part of all is when everyone in the room bursts into the robust singing of traditional carols like “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” accompanied by brass, choir, and magnificent organ playing by one of New England’s most celebrated organists, Frederick A. MacArthur.
