Patch Picks: Non-Profit Organizations In Dover and Sherborn

This week, Patch highlights five local nonprofits making a difference in Dover and Sherborn.

Sherborn Dollars For Scholars

Established in 1965, Sherborn Dollars for Scholars has raised over $400,000 as part of Scholarship America. The goal of the non-profit is to support and raise money for students to achieve their college dreams and to assist in affording the high-cost of a college education.

D-S Boosters

The D-S Boosters consists of high school parents and Dover and Sherborn community members who seek to support and promote the athletic programs at Dover-Sherborn Regional High School. The Boosters support the student-athletes in a variety of ways including, raising scholarship money for graduating seniors, providing sports equipment and infrastructure upkeep, and raising money for league championship banners, trophies, and plaques. 

Friends of the Sherborn Council on Aging

The Friends of the Sherborn Council on Aging in a non-profit organization that seeks to raise money through charitable donations to support and help the well-being of Sherborn seniors. Through fundraising they enhance the many programs and services offered by the Sherborn Council on Aging, including one program where the Friends offer vouchers for transportation for those in need of financial assistance to get around locally and for medical reasons.

Friends of the Dover Town Library

The Friends of the Dover Town Library raise money to help pay for books, movies, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and programs such as movie nights, and children, teen, and tween activities at the Dover Town Library. Their goal is to help contribute to the continuing success of the library and to help its growth in the community.

Dover-Sherborn Education Fund

The Dover-Sherborn Education Fund is a non-profit group dedicated to enhancing the Dover-Sherborn Public Schools. They have raised over $3,000,000 that has gone towards, science, technology, arts, and athletics at the schools. Their goal is to make D-S schools the best they possibly can be for students attending.
