TCAN Nominated for 7 Regional Theater Awards

Natick's community theater was nominated for awards including best production and best stage design.

Players, who have presented more than 20 plays since 2001, were recognised by the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres with seven award nominations.

"You could say that in regional community theatre, this is similar to winning a Tony award nomination," David Lavalley, Executive Director of TCAN, said in an email.

TCAN receives a large number of patrons from the Dover-Sherborn area who regularly attend concert and theatre performances at the group's nearby venue, Lavalley told Dover-Sherborn Patch, with a number of residents from Dover and Sherborn having acted with the TCAN Players.

Moreover, Sherborn resident George Fiske was a long-time chairman of the Board at TCAN, Lavalley added.

The nominations are as follows:

  • Best Production (Play)
Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (TCAN Players)
  • Best Supporting Actress (Play)
Kate Forrestall in Proof (TCAN Players)
  • Best Supporting Actor (Play)
Stephen Turner in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (TCAN Players)
Todd Sandstrom in Proof (TCAN Players)

  • Best Costume Design (Play)
Donna Roessler for Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (TCAN Players)

"Our goal at TCAN is to present big performance experiences in our small theatre... We are proud of the TCAN Players for achieving a high level of artistic excellence as recognized by these EMACT DASH nominations," Lavalley said.
