Walk-A-Thon, festivals and a chance to play football with Tom Brady on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just doesn't cut it anymore, then don't worry, Dover-Sherborn Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Medfield Garden Club Spring Plant Sale

Where/When: , 26 North St, Medfield; Saturday, May 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why Go: The perennials are terrific and attractively priced, but the best part about supporting the sale is that the proceeds get plowed directly into those colorful planters and islands all around town.

The Spring Plant Sale is a Medfield tradition now nearly four decades old. As one of two fundraisers held during the year, it’s the proceeds from the sale that allow the club to maintain nearly 20 roadside gardens all around town.

Pricing: Free admission and open to all

2New ‘N Towne’s Big Rig Festival

Where/When:  , 24 Pound St, Medfield; Saturday, May 21, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: You do not want to miss NNT’s Big Rig Festival! There will be all kinds of big rigs and utility vehicles on display for children to touch, climb and explore. Blow the horn on a fire engine, sit in a police squad car or climb in an ambulance

Pricing: Tickets may be purchased on festival day for $5.

3‘Walk for Olivia’ Walk-A-Thon at Medfield High School Track

Where/When: , 88r South St, Medfield; Sunday, May 22, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: The "Walk for Olivia" will be held at the Medfield High School track from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. (Rain or Shine). Olivia Bonfilio, a 9 year old Medfield resident, has been battling a rare form of Leukemia since Thanksgiving, 2010. All proceeds will go to The Olivia Foundation at Dedham Savings Bank to help Olivia and her family with mounting medical expenses. There will be prizes for all children and for the most creative use of Orange, the official color of Leukemia, on T-Shirts or Sneakers.

Pricing: A donation of $5 per person or $25 per family is requested. Even if you are unable to attend the walk, please consider a tax deductible donation.

Where/When: 39 Powisset St, Dover; Saturday, May 21, 1 to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Bring the whole family to Powisset Farm to kick off the 2011 farming season.  Spring Fest will include farm tours, guided nature walks, live music, projects for kids, and vendors selling crafts and food. 

A huge Seedling Sale will also take place during the Spring Fest as well as May 28 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.. You'll be able to purchase a variety of vegetable, flower, and herb seedlings, and beautiful hanging baskets.

Pricing: Members: $4; Family $10. Nonmembers: $5; Family $12.

Where/When: , 200 Patriot Pl, Foxborough; Saturday, May 21, 4 to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Join Karlson and McKenzie from WZLX at CBS Scene tonight from 4 pm - 6 pm for giveaways and to win a chance to play football with Tom Brady! Five contestants will be selected to participate in a football toss competition - One lucky winner will take part in the 2nd Annual Tom Brady Football Challenge to support Best Buddies on June 3rd at Harvard Stadium! Please note, you must be 18 or older to participate.
