Mother's Day festivities, a craft fair and POPS concert on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just doesn't cut it anymore, then don't worry, Dover-Sherborn Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see– all within driving distance of home. 

1. May Means MOM Craft Show

Where/When: 337 Cocasset St., Foxborough; Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: This is a special boutique style show with Mom in mind! Bring Mom to the show to see all the beautiful things our crafters have created for her! There are free door prize drawings and lots of other surprises!

Handcrafted jewelry, handbags, dollclothes (for the make-believe mommies), soaps & candles, herbs, dried flowers and so much more! There is something for everyone here!

2. Mother’s Day Plant Sale at Church of the Advent

Where/When: , 28 Pleasant St, Medfield; Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Church of the Advent will hold a Mother's Day Plant sale today from 9 am - 2pm.  They will feature beautiful geraniums, annuals, herbs, veggies and hanging baskets from Mahoney’s of Winchester.

Proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Red Thread Promise, an outreach project to help rebuild the school, dormitory, clinic and church at St. Vincent's Center for Handicapped Children in Haiti which were devastated by last year's earthquake.

Put a smile on Mom’s face, beautify your garden and help provide the basic needs for the children who call St. Vincent's home.

Pricing: Entrance is free and open to all.

3. Medfield Lions and Basil’s Restaurant Present Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast

Where/When: 110 Peter Kristof Way, Medfield; Sunday, May 8, 8 a.m. to noon.

Why Go: The Medfield Lions Club will offer local children the opportunity to say Happy Mothers Day in a special way on Sunday, May 8th at the American Legion Hall with a Pancake Breakfast. The breakfast will start at 8 a.m. and  end at noon.  

The Medfield Lions is sponsoring the breakfast with all the trimmings and Basil’s Restaurant will cater a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausages, bacon, home fries, and coffee, tea, and juice. The Lions will provide carnations to each mother.

Tickets for the breakfast are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and may be purchased at the door.

The breakfast promises to be a special event for the Medfield community and as with every Lions’ fundraiser, the proceeds from the pancake breakfast goes to local charities. The event proceeds are underwritten by local businesses that purchase advertising on the table placemats used at the breakfast. Some of the programs supported by Medfield Lions’ fundraisers include: Medfield Home Committee, Food Cupboard, scholarships for local high school graduates, Medfield Animal Shelter, local events for senior citizens, and the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund.

Celebrating its 67th  anniversary, the Medfield Lions Club is a member of the world's largest service club organization with nearly 1.4 million men and women in 190 countries who volunteer their time and energy to serve their communities, and lead the effort to prevent and reverse blindness. Where/When: 4 Sanger St, Sherborn; Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: The Sherborn Library invites you to their 39th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair.  This fun community and family event promises unique arts and crafts from over 80 local artisans and vendors, beautiful plants for sale, fun family and children’s activities, book sales, delicious food, live music and raffles.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: , 60 Lenox St, Norwood; Saturday, May 7, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The Sharon Concert Band and the Roy Scott Big Band celebrate spring with our annual Pops Concert entitled "The Good 'Ol Days", featuring upbeat performances of nostalgic songs of the last century.

 The Sharon Concert Band will play selections such as “Bright Lights on Broadway” and “The Genius of Ray Charles” while the 19-piece Roy Scott Big Band will perform high energy numbers including “Blue Train”, “Sing Sang Sung”, and Steely Dan's "Peg".

 * Refreshments will be served, and are included with the admission price.

 * Trivia Game with former WMEX sports talk show host Steve Budkiewicz (starting at 7 pm) features several prizes including an iPod Shuffle!

Pricing: $15 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, and are available by using the Paypal feature on the website (http://www.sharonbands.org) . Reserved Pops-style tables are avaialble for parties of 8 or more. Advance sale tickets are recommended, as this show always sells out.
