Weekend Planner: Dec. 9-11

Holiday shopping, cookies and house tours on the calendar this weekend.

 

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just don’t cut it anymore, then don't worry, D-S Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Christmas Shoppe

Find out what's happening in Dover-Sherbornwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: , 150 Chapel St., Norwood; Friday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, from noon to 6 p.m.

Why Go: The annual Christmas Shoppe is a bargain hunter's delight filled with Christmas gifts and treasures of both new and gently used Christmas decorations and gift items offered at great prices.

Pricing: Free, Open to all.

2. Medfield's First Baptist Church 18th Annual Cookie Walk

Where/When: , 438 Main St., Medfield; Saturday, Dec. 10th starting at 9 a.m. until they sell out.

Why Go: Let the First Baptist Church take the stress out of baking holiday cookies for you. Purchase an empty bakery box at the door and walk around tables laden with a large assortment of fancy, homemade cookies, filling your boxes as you go. Be sure to get there early because the estimated 800 dozen cookies are expected to sell out within an hour.

Pricing: Small and medium are available for purchase; with prices ranging from $20 for a loaf size box and $35 for a medium cake box. 

3. Powisset Fall Farm Stand

Where/When: Powisset Farm, 39 Powisset S.t, Dover; Saturday, Dec. 10, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Powisset Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture Farm (CSA) in Dover. The Fall Farm Stand will be open today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stock up on Fresh produce for your Christmas meal. The farm stand will include winter squash, onions, garlic, sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, honey, jam, pottery, and locally harvested firewood.

Pricing: Free, Open to all.

4. Showcase Live's First Annual Rockin Holiday Bash

Where/When: , 23 Patriot Place, Foxborough; Sat., Dec. 10th from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Why Go: Celebrate the season at Showcase Live's holiday bash which will feature live music by DJ Spitaleri, Free Appetizers from 9 pm - 10 pm, Karaoke Contests with Prize Package, special drinks and so much more.

Pricing: Free admission will be given to ladies and Medfield and Norwood residents before 10 p.m. or by presenting an old Showcase Live ticket stub. For all others, general Admission is $5 and be purchased HERE.

5. Norwood Holiday House Tour

Where/When: F. Holland Day House, 93 Day St., Norwood; Sun., Dec. 11, 2 to 6 p.m.

Why Go: The Norwood Neighbors Committee 6th Annual Holiday House Tour allows you to take a self-guided house tour of several private homes, including the F. Holland Day House, all dressed up for the holidays.  Music at the F. Holland Day House will be provided by the Norwood High School Madrigal Singers.

Pricing: Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the Day House, Babels and the Civic Center.
