Weekend Planner: Benefit Events, Hercules and Spring Fling

Here's a look at the weekend ahead for April 27-29

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just don't cut it anymore, then don't worry, D-S Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Benefit For Victims of Norwood Center Accident

Where/When: 171 Nahatan St., Norwood; Saturday, April 28, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Why Go:  A benefit is being held by friends and family for Katie Brannelly and Dom Rossi, both seriously injured when struck head on by a car last month in Norwood Center. The benefit is being held in an effort to offset medical costs for the families during their continued treatment.

Green and white bracelets with "Katie and Dom" written on them will be sold - the green serving as admission to the event. The white bracelets are being sold for $10 by a few local area restaurants, including Limey's Pub. There will also be raffle items, and a silent auction at the event. All funds will go to towards the fund for Dom and Katie.

2. Medfield Coalition for Public Education Spring Fling

Where/When: 656 East St., Dedham; Friday, April 27, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Why Go:  The Medfield Coalition for Public Education (MCPE) Spring Fling: Planting Seeds of the Future, is one of the organizations biggest fundraisers held each year. This community-wide event will feature an evening of dancing, hors-d’oeurves, and silent and live auctions. The Medfield Coalition for Public Education is an independent, non-profit organization that strives to provide support for academic excellence and enrichment in the Medfield public schools.

Pricing: Tickets are $60.00 each and can be purchased online at www.medfieldcoalition.org.

 

3. Medfield HS Student Council Annual Running Water 5k Road Race

Where/When: 88r South St., Medfield; Sun., April 29, Registration begins at 10:15 a.m. for 11:00 a.m. race time.

The Medfield High School Student Council will host their 4th Annual Running Water 5k Road Race/walk today. The Water Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting communities worldwide who suffer needlessly from a lack of access to clean water. There will be music, refreshments, and raffles after the race.

Pricing: Day of the Race is: $20 per person

 

4. Norwood HS Environmental Youth Coalition Benefit Concert

Where/When: 88r South St., Norwood; Fri., April 27, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: The Norwood HS Environmental Youth Coalition (EYC) invites you to  a night filled with a variety of performances, food, and raffles.  All proceeds will be donated to TogetherYes, a newly formed non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable living in Norwood.

Pricing: $8 for students and $9 for adults.

 

5.  D-S Middle Schoolers Perform 'Hercules' Play at Sherborn Community Center

Where/When: 3 Sanger St., Sherborn; Fri., April 27, 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 28th at 7:00 p.m.

From Atlas to Zeus, your favorite legends come to life at the Dover-Sherborn Middle School Drama Program's production of Hercules (a comedy!).  Bring the family and meet Harpies, Hydras, Hera, Hercules and many others, from a cast of 55 students.
 
Pricing: General admission tickets ($10) are available at the Dover Deli, Dover Market and Walgreens. Tickets will also be sold at the door but last year's spring production sold out before the show, so get your tickets now.
