The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have is not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just isn't cutting it anymore, then don't worry, Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Medfield Parks & Recreation Annual Children's Clothing & Equipment Sale

Where/When: , 124 North St., Medfield; Sat., March 31, 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: This is your chance to purchase brand name high quality, gently used, children’s garments, gear, accessories, appliances, furnishings, and maternity clothes at a great price. (Please note that the sale will close down from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to prepare for the half price sale which will take place from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.) All unsold items will be donated to Cradles to Crayons.

2. Murder At The Library!

Where/When: 468 Main St., Medfield; Sat., March 31, 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Why Go: The Gazebo Player of Medfield and the Medfield Public Library will host "Murder at the Library".  Attendees will arrive to learn that many of the Library’s famous characters have come to life for the evening, but one of them has been murdered. Guests will be asked to help solve the murder by gathering clues from the characters, with the goal of identifying the murderer, the murder weapon, and the motive. The guest with the first correct answer will win a prize when the solution is revealed at the end of the evening.  Proceeds from Murder at the Library will benefit both the Library and Gazebo Players. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Library’s main desk, and will also be available at the door.  Additional refreshments, beverages, and raffle tickets will be available.

Pricing: Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, and children 5 and under will be admitted free. Each ticket includes a swag bag.

3. Wild West Bonanza Auction

Where/When: 29 Cross St., Dover; Sat., March 31, 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m

The Dover PTO invites you to dress in your most casual cowboy clothing - jeans and cowboy boots and enjoy an auction and full dinner provided by Blue Ribbon BBQ and cash bar.  As well as taking a ride on a mechanical bull the main event of the evening will include the live auction which features something for everyone.  Items include several getaways, a tailgate party with eight tickets to a Patriot's game, food, beverages and a Tom Brady autographed football, a VIP package of special access passes, memberships and gift certificates to the best of Legacy Place. Or, you could bid on an autographed drum from Chickering alumni and recent artist-in-residence, Leon Mobley. Other items up for auction include Adirondack chairs, painted bookcases, decorated clocks, jazzed-up lamps, collages and more all created by each classroom.

4. Dar Williams in Concert

Where/When: 6 Old Meadow Road, Dover; Sat., March 31, 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Why Go: The Charles River School's centennial celebration continues with a special soulful musical performance by singer and songwriter, Dar Williams.

5. George H. Morse House Hosts 8th Annual Art in Bloom

Where/When: George H. Morse House, 1285 Washington St., Norwood Old Meadow Road, Norwood; Sat., March 31, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. & Sun., April 1, from 1:00-5:00 p.m

Why Go: The Art in Bloom is a joint collaboration between the Norwood Evening Garden Club and Norwood High School art students. This is the eighth annual event where club members create floral displays to interpret the work done by students in Drawing and Painting III and 2D Digital Design III classes in the historic George H. Morse House. This year, the students have interpreted a range of styles from realism to abstraction.  The media varies from landscape images in the Fauvist style (bright, bold, unusual colors), to images based on microscopic cells, to self-portraits with unusual colors (a la VanGogh), to computer-generated images. Laurie Meade McGrory, Norwood Visual Arts Chair, has titled the exhibit “From Realism to Abstraction.” Refreshments will also be served throughout the event.
