Dover-Sherborn Girls Soccer Triumphant Over Ashland Last Night Under The Lights at Frothingham Field

Congrats Dover-Sherborn Girls Soccer team for making the BOSTON GLOBE top 10 ranking at #5!

It was a beautiful night! The sun was shining and the girls were warming up on the new turf field in Dover.  Chatter amongst the players, coaches, parents, students and of course the DS Bays Soccer ball girls.  It was a night to watch soccer! There was no school the next day and the stands and the surrounding field was packed with happy fans.  The snack shack was open for business and Ashland came into town for a win against the defending State Champions!

DSGS played well! They played as a team! They won as a team and they will continue to work hard as a team, together! "It takes a village!", says Coach Dave Wainwright.  He has been working these girls hard since day one and they are taking things into their own hands one day at a time.

Last night, DSGS (5-1-1) defeated Ashland (1-3-2).  Ashland was outshot 21 to 4! The girls were relentless and continued to work pulling off a solid 2-0 win.  Senior Captain #5 Julia Perlmutter knocked off another shut out with three saves in the first half and two in the second. Ashland's goal keeper only had 2 saves in the second half.

DS notched their first goal in the 21st minute with an assist by #4 Senior Captain Victoria Ortega to #7 Jackie Goudreault with a rocket shot, top corner to place the ball in the back of the net from the 20 yard line.

DS notched their second goal in the seond half, 67th minute with an assist by #7 Junior Jackie Goudreault to #27 Senior Taylor Coutts who blasted the ball high and deep over the GK head from the 25 yard line. The crowds were wild and the night ended sending Ashland home with the loss.

The next upcoming game is scheduled for 9/27/2012, Thursday at Holliston for their first match up of the season with a kick-off at 3:30 PM. This is a conference game for the Raiders.
