No. 5 DOVER-SHERBORN GIRLS SOCCER FALLS TO No. 3 NORWELL DOUBLE OVERTIME AND PKs!

The last two years the DSGS defeats Norwell, but there is a lot to be said for this strong soccer team and their leadership lead by strong Captians: Victoria Ortega and Julia Perlmutter!

The No. 5 seed Dover-Sherborn High School girls soccer team (15-4-3) falls short to the No. 3 seed Norwell Sunday afternoon in 100 minutes with double overtime and losing in a PK shootout, 4-3.   Headed by Dave Wainwright, he has a lot to be proud of with this talented group of athletes.  Wainwright, a recipient of 2009 and 2011 TVL Coach of the Year, Boston Globe Coach of The Year in 2011 and Metro West and Eastern Mass Coaching Awards in 2011 will be returning next year to try it all over again.

DS girls never allowed a goal in through three playoff games and finished strong with a stellar defensive back line.  Sr. Chandler Wood, Sr. Robiny Jameson, Sr *C Julia Perlmutter in net and Fr Molly Doyle played a major role in the DS defense.

DS Junior Jackie Goudreault broke free and received a lead pass just inside the Norwell 30-yard line.  With a two-step lead on the pursuing defenders, Goudreault took two dribbles before "rifling a shot towards the net."  The Clipper's GK dove left and corralled the the shot.

In PKs, Goudreault went first and missed high and to the right.  Sr Georgia McMillan makes her shot, 1-1, after two rounds.  A miss by DS Sr midfielder, Victoria Ortega ricocheted off the crossbar.  The Clippers were able to make the next two kicks to make this game final.

"We knew were in trouble when missing four of the five shots." says Coach Dave Wainwright, "PKs has never eally been our strength."

Stellar performances were made by Sr *C Julia Perlmutter with the game of her life not allowing a goal in 100 minutes with the shut out in regular and overtime, Sr *C Victoria Ortega with her midfield expertese and fast pace, Fr Caitlyn Balmer, Jr Sara Tanner, Sr Kali Sherburne, So Alex White, So Izzy Parizeau, Fr Claire O'Callaghan, and a midfield blast from So Abigail Bridge.  In double overtime, Coach put in Fr Rachel Shone who proved to withstand the pressure of a strong Norwell line up and made her presence known.  In PKs, Soph Meghan Hall performed well. DS graduates 9 Seniors this year.
