Marketing Our Community

The Boston area is one of the most popular cities for relocating professionals. When selling your home, be sure to highlight what makes living in the Dover-Sherborn area so special.

Often when I begin working with new home buyers they're relocating here from out of state and often from out of the country. They start with a pretty expansive search. Their most common wish list: a safe community with a stellar public school system and easy access to Boston. Since that criteria includes a good number of Boston suburbs, they often peruse homes for sale in many communities in addition to Dover and Sherborn. I often find newcomers will search as far away as Hingham and Andover in addition to the Metrowest.

The Boston area is one of the most popular cities for relocating professionals, many of whom have tremendous global flexibility in which communities they choose to live. The increased mobility of professionals makes it all the more important for listing agents to highlight not just the distinctive characteristics of a home but what makes living in the Dover-Sherborn area so special.

Here are some great points to highlight when selling a home buyer on living in the Dover-Sherborn area.

Small town feel. Where else can you live in a forested oasis yet be so close to the Mass Pike, the train to Boston, and the Natick Collection?

Exemplary schools. The Dover-Sherborn Public School System is consistently ranked among the very top of Boston Magazine's Best Public High Schools and twice was recognized as one of the top public high schools in the entire country by U.S. News & World Report.

Passive recreation. For those who enjoy the outdoors, our community has done such an outstanding job of protecting beautiful forests and trails compared to many neighboring areas. It's one of the reasons the community was named to Boston Magazine's Best Places to Live last year.

Farm Pond. It's such a peaceful gem and quite different from many area waterways, several of which are overrun with polluting boats and jet skis. (Contact Casey Timm, 508- 647-5970 or theTimms@comcast.net to join the Friends of Farm Pond.)

Strong community involvement. Whether you prefer solitude or want to get to know your neighbors, the Dover-Sherborn area is a great place to be. After living in several towns across the Metrowest over the years, my wife always tells me "I never want to leave Sherborn". She's made wonderful friends here, and cherishes this community.

What are some of the things you like best about living in the Dover-Sherborn area?
