Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Upcoming in Dover

Residents may drop off oils, oil paint (not latex), pesticides, herbicides, banned chemicals, photographic chemicals, brake fluid, antifreeze and unusable gasoline.

The following is a release from the Dover Police Department.

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, a household hazardous waste collection will be held for residents of Dover and Medfield at the Medfield Town Garage – Route 27 north of Route 109, Medfield.

Between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., residents may drop off oils, oil paint (not latex), pesticides, herbicides, banned chemicals, photographic chemicals, brake fluid, antifreeze and unusable gasoline.

To ensure safety, please tighten caps and lids leaving material in original labeled containers, when possible. Pack items in sturdy upright boxes with newspaper and sort and pack pesticides and household cleaners separately, and remember to NEVER MIX CHEMICALS.

As always, excess or outdated prescription medications can be dropped anonymously into the collection box in the lobby of the Dover Police Department Headquarters – 3 Walpole Street, Dover.

Disposing properly of prescription medications, particularly addictive painkillers such as morphine, codeine, and oxycodone, is an important tool in preventing abuse.

This self-service drop box is provided free to residents by the Dover Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office.
