POLL: Would you exchange your unused 1979 ticket to The Who to see them today?

In 1979, the mayor of Providence canceled The Who's concert for safety reasons. Here, Medfield resident Rick Mayer holds his 1979 ticket which he exchanged for a ticket to the 2013 show.

Thirty-three years ago, Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci canceled The Who concert after 11 people died in a stampede before a Who show in Ohio.

Now the British rock band is coming back to Providence with its Quadrophenia tour, and will honor those 1979 tickets if fans want to trade them in for The Who's February 26 show at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

All redeemed tickets -- like that of Medfield's Rick Mayer -- will be auctioned off to benefit the Special Olympics, according to the The Boston Channel.

POLL: What would you do?  Would you trade in the ticket to see them today or would you keep the ticket for posterity?  Take our poll and let us know.

Have more to say?  Do you hold one of these tickets?  Are you a Who fan? Do you remember the controversy over the cancelled concert?  [For our younger readers: Have you heard of The Who?] Tell us in the Comments.
