Dover Police and Fire Log: $150,000 Identity Theft Loss and Burned Pancakes

Notable activity from the Dover Police and Fire logs the week of April 23-30.

Monday- April 23, 2012

Fraud- 11:21 a.m.

Strawberry Hill Street- Resident stated that she received a scam phone call stating that her grandson had been involved in an accident in Mexico and that $2,700 had to be wired to the U.S. embassy. No money or information had been transferred. Information taken and was also referred to the FBI phone scam site.

Vandalism- 2:56 p.m.

Powissett Street, Grossman Day Camp- Caller stated that a picnic table by a boating ramp was destroyed. The table was valued at $350.  Information taken.

Tuesday- April 24, 2012

Identity Theft- 1:13 p.m.

Schaffner Lane- Caller stated that he had been the victim of identity theft and that $157,000 had been taken.

 

Wednesday- April 25, 2012

Alarm, Fire- 4:55 p.m.

Cornell Road- ADT reported that a smoke detector alarm sounded. Fire dispatched. ADT called back to report that the alarm was caused by burnt pancakes on the stove.

Erratic Operation- 11:16 p.m.

Dedham Street, Caryl Park- Caller reported that he was behind a vehicle that kept swerving out of the travel lane and back. Area checked, gone on arrival.

 

Thursday- April 26, 2012

Motor Vehicle Stop- 6:16 p.m.

Centre Street- Citation issued for no inspection sticker.

 

Friday- April 27, 2012

Animal Complaint- 7:27 a.m.

Pine Street- Caller reported seeing a raccoon "acting funny" in his backyard. Officers unable to locate the animal.

Motor Vehicle Stop- 8:55 p.m.

Springdale Avenue and Old Colony Drive- Motor vehicle stop with five occupants. Verbal warning issued for harsh and objectionable noise.

 

Saturday- April 28, 2012

Motor Vehicle Stop- 9:32 p.m.

Walpole Street- Citation issued for speeding.

 

Sunday- April 29, 2012

Property Damage- 9:51 a.m.

Old Meadow Road- Walk-in reported that his mailbox was knocked over some time during the Charles River School gala event.

Motor Vehicle Stop- 12:04 p.m.

Dover Road- Criminal application citation issued to an operator for no inspection sticker, unregistered motor vehicle, attaching wrong registration plates to conceal ID and operating after revocation of license. Vehicle towed.

 

Monday- April 30, 2012

Motor Vehicle Stop- 7:33 a.m.

Main Street- Verbal warning issued for speeding.
