Dover Police Log: Dog Barking, Howling

The following information was provided by the Dover Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, November 1

Barking Dog (8:44 a.m.) - A resident of Tubwreck Dr. reported that his neighbor's dog had been barking for about 35 minutes. An officer was sent to check out the area, but couldn't hear the barking. The Animal Control Officer was notified.

Computer Crime (10:00 a.m.) - A Bretton Rd. resident reported that someone attempted to obtain money from him by wire transfer. The suspect emailed an official looking FBI notice posing as an FBI agent looking to resolve alleged pending Internet child pornography charges for money. This is a popular scam. The resident was advised to contact their bank and the credit agencies and have a computer tech clean and identify what information was accessed by opening the link.

Fraud (11:47 a.m.) - A resident reported receiving a fraudulent winnings scam through the mail. No loss was incurred. The resident was informed of the nature of the scam and informed not to send any money as requested.

Friday, November 2

Howling Dog (7:31 a.m.) - A Tubwreck Dr. resident called to report that his neighbor's dog has been howling since 7 a.m. The howling was audible over the phone from the caller's porch. An officer was sent to the residence and spoke to the owner of the dog to tell him to bring the dog inside. The Animal Control Officer was notified.

Traffic Concern (4:25 p.m.) - A resident reported that drivers had been ignoring pedestrians in the crosswalk at the intersection of Walpole St. and Old Farm Rd. The reporting party states it happens all day long and is an accident waiting to happen.
