Dover Police Log: Drunk Driving, Bear Sightings and a Portable Toilet Tipped

The following information was provided by the Dover Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned they do not indicate conviction.

Saturday, July 7 

Drunk Driver Arrested (2:59 a.m.) - Dover Police arrested a local man for driving under the influence of alcohol near Donnelly Drive and Partridge Hill Road. Two criminal complaint citations were issued to passengers for being minors in possession of alcohol, as well as for an open container of alcohol in the passenger compartment. 

Tree Down on Pine Street (12 a.m.) - A Pine Street resident reported to police that she heard a loud bang, similar to a car accident, and then witnessed a vehicle swerve down the street. The vehicle, police determined, had braked on the road in an attempt to avoid hitting a tree branch that had fallen in the roadway.

Thursday, July 5

Bear Spotted? (9:35 p.m.) - A caller reported to Dover Animal Control of a possible bear in the area. Environmental Police were called on the matter and stated no action would be taken until sighting was confirmed, according to reports.

Wires Down (7:47 p.m.) - A caller reported to police that a wire had been hanging low over the area of Brook Road. Officers responded and determined that the wire was blocking the travel lane of the road. Verizon and Comcast were notified of the incident. 

More Wires Down (3:57 p.m.) - Wires were also reported to have been down across the driveway of a Forest Street home, according to reports. Officers responded and were able to roll the wire up and move it out of the way. Comcast was notified of the incident. 

Wednesday, July 4

Deer Hit on Glen Street (8:03 p.m.) - Police received reports of deer that was struck by a vehicle on Glen Street. Police responded to the area and determined that the deer was indeed hit by a vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

Pit Bull Removed (10:13 a.m.) - A Draper Road resident called police to request removal of a pit bull from her yard. Officers responded and removed the dog, returning it to its home. 

Portable Toilet Tipped Over (9:23 a.m.) - Police responded to the lot at Chickering Fields on a report that the portable restroom in the lot had been tipped over and was resting on a nearby wooden fence.
