Code Red is a Rapid Alert Notification System used by many counties, cities and towns in Massachusetts. Residents and officials often refer to it as a "Reverse 911" system, though that is the name of a similar service.

“The RANS software has adapted to modern methods of communication by offering more accessible ways for residents to stay informed,” said Sheriff Bellotti in a statement. “Residents have the option of receiving alerts through methods that best suit their technological preferences.”

Residents can also follow Norfolk County alerts on Facebook andTwitter.
