A Walpole man who is facing charges for allegedly on Sunday is scheduled to be arraigned in Dedham District Court either this afternoon or tomorrow, according to Dover Police.

Police have charged David Dini, 32, of 61 High Street, in Walpole, with allegedly leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding.

Officers from Dover, Walpole, Westwood, Medfield and a K-9 unit from Ashland all assisted in trying to find the man.

Dini is alleged to have been driving a Nissan Altima on Route 109 toward Medfield when he "t-boned" a Lexus sedan that was trying to turn onto Crest Drive from County Street driven by Michael Hogan, of Stonegate Lane, in Dover.

Hogan and Cheryl Whippen, 29, of Walpole, a passenger in the Nissan were both taken to the hospital with injuries.

According to Dover Police Officer Jon Cash, Whippen was taken to a Boston hospital with spinal fractures and an arm injury. After the accident, Whippen stated to police that she did not know who the man was who was operating the Nissan.

“Her injuries were substantial at the time so it’s possible that she was slightly dazed, she had a couple spinal fractures so she was in quite a bit of pain at the scene so it’s possible that she wasn’t one hundred percent,” Cash said. “She’s assisting in the investigation helping us identify who was in the vehicle.”

The Nissan was registered in Dini's name and through information and statements made by people at the scene police beleive that Dini was the man who fled the accident.

“There were at least four witnesses on the scene that saw him take off on foot,” Cash said.

A warrant was put out for his arrest on Tuesday Oct. 11 and he was arrested at his home by Walpole Police that night.

“We haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet. He hasn’t given us any specifics. He’s maintaining that he wasn’t driving the car. He’s telling us that he lent it to a friend,” Cash said.

Hogan, who was taken to Norwood Hospital due to injuries he sustained from the crash, is believed to have been released from the hospital the next day, according to Cash.
